Also included is ‘Watergate Rock’, a Larry Marshall B side and the first track ever credited to King Tubby, as well as The Chantells’ mighty ‘Waiting In The Park’, a fine example of the 12” discomix, with the vocal blending into the dub.

KING TUBBY MEETS JACOB MILLER IN A TENEMENT YARD
“You were always hearing synthesizer music; there’s groups like Tangerine Dream that you would hear of, there’s Stevie Wonder on the radio, playing all kinds of things on ‘Living For The City’; there was a lot of music with synthesizer being played on it, and the Moog synthesizer was the talk of the century at that time, everybody was talking about Mini-Moog and what the Moog can do. I saw one and kind of fell in love with itI just like the way it work, the ease of use and whatnot…”
- Bernard ‘Touter’ Harvey
Motion Records is proud to announce the re-issue of what we believe is one of the last truly great ‘lost’ dub albums. According to reggae historian David Katz “The album you hold in your hands is easily one of the rarest dub albums to ever surface in Jamaica; because of the specific ingredients of its creation, it’s also one of the most unique.“
Featuring classic Jacob Miller/Inner Circle rhythms played by The Fatman Rhythm section and mixed by the great King Tubby, the album was originally released on a mis-labelled tiny vinyl pressing back in 1976.
Its unique sound is a result of the mixing techniques of King Tubby along with the Moog and ARP synthesisers of Bernard ‘Touter’ Harvey. When interviewed about the album Touter claims his main influences at the time were Tangerine Dream (a confirmation, perhaps, of the link between Dub and Ambient music) and ‘Living In The City’ era Stevie Wonder. Touter is known for playing organ, keyboards and Moog with Inner Circle and Bob Marley as well as on many of reggae’s great albums and singles; he also played the prominent synth line on Uptown Top Ranking.
The original Jacob Miller riddims and these dubs were produced by Inner Circle’s Lewis brothers, Roger and Ian, both of whom are now well known as the owners of Miami’s Circle House Studios home of Sean "P Diddy" Combs, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Whitney Houston etc.

We are also working on another couple of dub releases and will announce details of these on the MySpace site.

Re: Next Motion Records reissue
Thanks to Motion for the work they're doing.
Anyone who had a look at their website has noticed that the rare dub record that is now retitled 'King Tubby meets Jacob Miller in a Tenement Yard' is the one which normally is referred to as 'E-E-Saw in Dub' or as 'City of the Weakheart Dub' due to the label or misinformation growing through the last 30 years.
I don't want to undermine anybody's intention but IMO King Tubby had nothing to do with this except that someone used his mixes and I do hope that record companies will stop claiming he did just for money's sake (known names will sell their product etc.).
It's very welcome to see this record been made available again, but it is not a 'classic' and not everything that's making incredibly money on ebay is worth picking up.
