I`m thinking its time for a break

Post by Rootsman »

I have been a visiter to this forum for nearly 3 years and a contributer for well over 2 years.

In that time I have met some great people, discovered some wonderful music and got to learn a lot about the fascinating world of reggae.

But to me, just recently, there seems to be a change of direction within the forum which is being engineered by a small minority of people that imo is detracting from what this site is all about.

I believe there are several people here who seem to be using this site for there own personal agenda`s and it is not about the music.

More and more threads appear to be argumentative, abusive and designed to create a bad vibe and incite others to respond in like.

All this shit that is floating around has made me think that maybe its time to get away from this forum for a while and find other mediums for my learnings.

This site is being ruined by postings that have nothing to do with music and are just a load of old crap.

I have met some good friends here and I will keep in touch. To the rest, I send peace and love, if you know what that means.

Yeah, sad thing, but I was thinking about the same, even though I LOVE and ADMIRE reggae music and this site as well...

Cant't understand why guys here, who claim to be reggae lovers, can't live in peace?

I used to be a member of a punk rock/hard core forum, where was no agression or offensive posts. Funny, isn't it?

On the other hand, when reggae lovers left, then who will stay?

Its going to be my last post for a very long time since i am one of those involved with the insults directed at me in particual so i think its best for me and everyone else that it seem anything i say or do gets off topic.
I will say without being against the USA that a lot of the rubbisj is coming from the people from the USA that think reggae is a toy not a culture.
I am hear to reason and im sure the baggage is sure to follow and for that reason in reasoning im giving the whole thing a knock on the head.
I have been insulted down to every insult you could name and i just take it with a pinch of salt like you can be boovered or have the time to find out.
Hear say he says she says.
So the scape goat me is not interested in it all even trying to sort it out with reasoning. im not hear to go through what has happened going over and over like a stuck record was is done is done and really as a proffessional in the music bizz trying to connect me with fools to be on the google search engine was my stance of being on google catchment pages that catch it 2 days later.
Everyone has a voice and thats why i joined RA cos it was a breath of fresh air unlike other message boards.
I am interested in roots and reggae music and biz and what friends i have made are now made into a ridicle anbd foolessness.
By a certain group of people and ganging up and school playground belittlement.
I know im being set up as a fool and i am sorry that some people cant take my straightforwardness but to say im going out my way to insult and ruin the board is not what i am hear for. i am being very diplomatic about it cos i know what is to follow. which means you have not read what i have writtern in this post and just jump at it and say its that stepping razor again.
it is not real life on a message board but the ROOTS ARCHIVE has been the closest to real life with knowledge and helpfullness to knowing about reggae.some people just take take take without giving any posativity back.
I dont care what people say about me the scape goat.
Perhaps i have to much knowledge of the reggae scene and people just get jealous.
Also i am not very good at spelling and edit a lot but only a few minutes after posting, which some people are saying that every edit was an insult.
The reason is i dont have time in my life gor rubbish and the RA jas been great that it does`nt waste peoples time, once it does its gets out of hand.
It may that people do not have the patcents to read what i have writtern.
While some people have been spending all day doing 25 posts an hour i have been doing the shopping 20 miles on the bike training the house work the cooking and the cleaning the lauidary and the rest of it so my life is not in chaos like the RA board is.
But once all fall behind with your responsabilies what comes first talking to fools or getting your house in order.
Some people may think i am talking to them directly, its a public message board. and after all that insult they say they are now off to take some drugs publically.
i cant be boovered defending myself and that gets their scape goat off the hook.
So i am feed up with the Stepping Razor Bashing.
All the best and Jah Guidane to all real reggae roots heads you have lost a good thing that once the human race cant reason there is only one way its going.
To reason is to reason.
peace

I hope peace is restored, i believe we should campaign for the addition of more moderators, i hoped you Dave would of been one of these.

Depending upon Leggo to moderate almost solely on his own isnt fair and i think the boards need more help to protect members.

I was tempted to start a thread like this to discuss recent talks, since Dec/Jan this year there have been frequent issues and the forum seems to be escalating off topic.

Im glad Rootsman, Funkyfred and dub from outta poland replied up here as i've been missing the input of some of the old faces.

I wont be leaving, id like to hope that some of the people on here who have stated they might leave dont as in my opinion they are core members of the forum and we'd lose not only knowledge but good people, respectul people.

Stepping; i understand your love for the website, i just think you need to be more aware of others here and allow others opinions, accepting that you may not always be correct; we need to accept peace and friendship and that those values are stronger then disagreement and arguements.

I'm Rambling; im sorry, **Keep strong and safe everyone.**

Dave,
I'm with you.

I've been coming here for about two years and I don't know what the hell happened to this forum which is supposed to be about the roots era. Everyday there's more and more topics regarding modern reggae, how much reggae someone has and lots of other odd topics with one-upsmanship, bragging, and little verbal joustings that seem far afield of the intent of the forum and the RA site.

I come here to learn about the music, find new artists, ask questions, and every once in a while I might actually be able to answer a question or two.

Stepping Razor: "[T]he people from the USA that think reggae is a toy not a culture."

I don't even know what this means? I enjoy the music and the history of the music, what more am I supposed to do?

Hopefully things get straightend out in the not too distant future.

Regards,
Chris

This is ridiculous! Well i`m a rastaman and lover of reggae and even petty insults, off topic posts or argumentative bredrin will never make me leave this site....

Come on guyz you cannot be serious about leaving or stop posting because of some "change in direction" which Rootsman said! All the irie, knowledgeable and cultural bredrin must stay and maintain the correct direction.

Anyway if ya gonna cruise then I`n`I will send respect and best wishes....

Peace out!(tu)
