Now the deep Jamacian culture and runnings apear it is also for Tax reasons so just take my word for it otherwise to ask Junior Ried to pay income tax to proove it.

Lacksley Castell Bio & Discography
Post by varese on Sept 9, 2006, 10:50am

Trying to contribute some information to last.fm and wrote this- any comments/correntions? There's bugger all information that I can find on the internet!

Lacksley Castell was born in Jamaica in the early 60s. Possessed of a high, light voice that resembled that of the late, great Hugh Mundell, he began cutting sides
towards the end of the 70s with producers such as Augustus Pablo and Prince Jammy, voicing a variety of tunes that Jammy put out with a couple of Hugh Mundell tracks as the album Jah Fire after Mundell's untimely death. These were moderately successful, though many mistook him for Mundell, and led to Robert "Flako" Palmer deciding to voice him, firstly on a couple of 12"s and then on two albums. The first album Morning Glory has riddims by Sly & Robbie and backing vocals by Don Carlos. The second, Princess Lady, was one of Mad Professor's first credits as mixing engineer.

Lacksley Castell died in the mid-80s, robbing reggae music of yet another talent; from the information I've researched it was from either TB, a stomach illness or a shooting. Since his death, the handful of singles and albums he released fetched some of the highest prices seen for reggae vinyl on ebay until their reissue through Musical Ambassador.

Photos of Castell:

I think its a little insulting to the artist to claim he didnt exist, which is why the above info and photos should hopefully put this to rest.

Its Jamacian runnings not some westernized bod book.
They sound the same thats because they are the same.
Its about contracts you sign for labels and you are contracted say to channel one channel nah want you then going off to the hills working on Augustus Pablo rockers label.
Den tell mi sir why do these reggae artists get shot then.
Its all about pseudonyms and you want to proove a pseudonym like the bogus Hugh Mundell track on that you tube video so as he can sell unearted hugh mudell cds.

Hugh Mudell was making records before the late 70`s in fact he was making records from 1973.

He was making 7" singles. the problem is that there is no archive anywhere for 12" and 7" except the people that have the records for me to proove it im not starting an archive for 7 and 12 1970 - 1984 cos it will be never ending and is impossible to do.
The thing about you can just about archive lps but when you get to 7s and 12s you gonna need the people that where involved from the early 70`s and thier knowlegde so it said in 2005 that so and so happened in 1978 i can correct them cos i was there.
No its not showing off its about reggae culture and not being false fed false info.

Indeed he was young when he first created tunes, in 1973 he would be 11, quite young but from artists such as Junior Pumpkin who recorded at 9 (or maybe younger) its possible.

How do you argue against the undeniable fact that they both look different?

Hugh Mundell used alias Jah Levi on some singles. He is credited for having his first single out in 1975 but I could totally believe something would be out in '73.
If he and Lacksley were the same why would they both be mentioned on Jah Fire? Wouldn't be for label or tax reasons since Mundell still was credited.
