Lacksley Castell & Hugh Mundell are not the same person..
Check the visuals, they dont even look like the same person...
Lacksley Castell died of tuberculosis in 1984 and Hugh Mundell got murdered in the same car that Jr.Reid was sitting in.. Ive reasoned personally with Jr.Reid on this one and he says thats who he grew with physically..Hugh and Lacksley..
So its def not the same person..

And yes 619, thats Lacksley Castell singing Princess Lady and Black Sheep...Hugh and Lacksley have a similar voice (just like Jr.Reid on "Sister Dawn)...

In Jah Fire album where the two vocals are combined , i think we can hear the differences in their voices particularly in my woman can where Mundell is in backing vocal.
I think the one who can confirm the fact that they are definitively not the same is the engineer or the mixer , cause what a pleasur he must feel to mix these wonderfull voices.

To me the bootleg on youtube is Mundell & it s the 1st time i hear it , i found it really wonderful

True their voices are very close on most of their tunes ,in one 7" Jah love is sweeter from lacksley Castell, we can't confuse with Mundell.

But anyway their vocal are really similar like many roots artists & even if it s true that many artists used different names or pseudo due to tax or contract problems ,i dont think Mundell & Castell are the same person.
Winston Mcanuff who grew with Mundell & earl sixteen Daley & who s still alive could answer to this if he was asked.

Otherwise i have some tunes who can be identify to Mundell or L Castell , but they are not
So who can tell me who is this Lenroy Swaby - we want our Liberty on Grove Music ???Mundell Castell ?? another singer ??

The Live & Love Jah Fire lp has no Augustus Pablo on it. They only mention pablo on the Arrow release.

this song is called in the hills. this is hugh mundell with augustus pablo on acoustic guitar and background vocals. this recording was done on a small cassette type player with a mic and was recorded by someone who was interviewing pablo probably in the late seventies. from this same recording came an acoustic version of nature provides with pablo on melodica.I have the radio tape from around 1981 where the actual person who did this live recording was being interviewed on the whereabouts of this recording.

Augutus Pablo did not play or have anything to do with Hugh Mundells Jah Fire original LP Live & Love label.

2:30 minutes of the YT tune ('... jah is the ONE ....'): for me its 100% Mundel. If someone else thinks it's Castell, ok for me

And yes @ j.g, I heard that voice on a tape copy years ago (very poor sound quality it was)

And yes @ stepping razor: seems Pablo has nothing 2 do with the orginal Jah Fire album. Well, no credits on the LP. But I never believe 70's and 80's credits for the full 100%

This is I (eye)...Trade Roots relocated to 3535 Adams Ave in Normal Heights and yes INI are still doing the radio show every Sunday night 7-8pm 1470 am..
