Top Ranking

Post by Morris »

Iv`e often read threads regarding the Top Ranking Label. I have heard that there is to be a program of re-issues of 1970`s titles both on album and CD.

Can anyone confirm that this is the case and if so what releases would be recommended as "must have`s".

Thanks

Morris,

I have looked on several sites but cannot find anywhere that mentions re-issues of said label.

Where you get this info as, if true, there are definately a few titles that I wouldn`t mind picking up.

Anyone else got information on this thread ?

Respect

Dave

Top Ranking is INNER CIRCLE's Lewis brothers label, managed by Tommy Cowan. This late took for himself the rights for release music without Lewises words for this. I saw them in March and try since 3 years to speak with them about releasing themselves albums and 12'...
Today they cocentrate on the new INNER CIRCLE LP for 2008 (it will be great, GREAT, i listened it!!) but unfortunately there is no reissue officialy.
The reasons are (with all my knowlege, because i'm writing a book about Jacob Miller and Inner Circle): First, they don't have any idea about the great reggae market in Europe. Living in Miami is living in jail with hip-hop performers. Today they are running the biggest hip-hop studios in Florida. And their manager don't know nothing about reggae...
The second is this one: they record an album and go forward to the next.

I try to tell them that their 70's music will disapear if they don't release themselves or let some pirates steal their music. For thar reason JACOB MILLER's album don't know a descent re-release...Very sad

yes, some official releases like fatman Riddim Section LP on Blood and Fire and one on Motion Records. The 'Same Song' album by Israel Vibration is the most easily available but unfortunately Inner Circle is not credited as co-producers and musicians.

Thanks Jah Titus,
It's possible to see new editions (officials) of Jacob Miller and Inner Circle in the next years. Some peoples are working for actually in France.

Do you think that they (or someone else) will re-release more Fatman Riddim Section stuff???

Except duble-dub album on B&F, most of their music is unavailable on cd or even lp anymore. Prime dub imo...
