Ebay Fake Dubplates

Post by Litelet »

Hi all...

Only three words to warn any of you interested in 70s dubplates on ebay... A lot of them sold nowadays are pure fakes and sold by thieves. Its seems like if Jah Shaka had plenty of them to sell...
Check carefully the seller, a lot of topics about them circulate on bloodandfire.co.uk

I don't mean to sound rude Litelet (because I appreciate that you warn us), but what are the three words?

4) there are plates with and without dub versions...
( there's a black ark 10" with 4 vocal versions.. and the Kunte Kinte dubplate doesn't have any vocals at all)

5) There are several plates with different vocal artists.. ( johnny clarke - jah give us the power, with an unknown artist on the flip for example )

7)usually there are several copies...

Its either you yourself that has made the music to put on a dubplate or you get it from source the person who made, cut and made the music for the dubplate.
How the labeling is doing like Jah Warrior has been selling some of his dubplates.
Just cos its on a dubplate format, dont make it a dubplate.
If its an old dubplate pressing it has wear and tear cos the soung quality last for up to 100 plays, so when a bogus dubplate comes up, its to clean to be the original.
Oh it aint been played, so whats the point of that dubplate thats just been pressed up for claiming its a dubplate.
Specials are another thing entirely, that could be on lots of formats.

Most of the UK dubplates were cut down a Music House in Holloway Road N7. London and either had their stamp and or matrix.
