Not sure specifically why this thread got deleted.
But we're having a problem, as you may have noticed, in the forum with some silly posting by a couple of out of order members.
Perhaps this thread got cleared out when the mods were trying to deal with the other problem.
Or maybe Blackwell's lawyers contacted the site owner!

it was an interesting thread, quite enjoyable, until it was hi-jacked by nonsense talk. why two people cant swap e mail addresses and insult each other for ever if they like is beyond me.
forum: a meeting where a public discussion is held
topic: a subject to write, learn or talk about
(both from the oxford dictionary)
these are the reasons why most people come round here. if you have nothing good to say, dont press the post button.

Re: WHERE´S THE CHRIS BLACKWELL THREAD ? ?
I feel its such a shame that some people hijack threads (hope your nor refering to me) so as they get deleated.same as the clash and reggae thread where there was 6 pages of very good chat and reasoning and work put in before it got out of hand.
I also had a threaterning pm by someone who did over 100 posts yesterday. Also a so called non member using my registered tag and slandering everyone.
I dont want to talk about it or mention any of it again.
But it seems someone has got it in for me and it aint working.
Back to the topic.
Chris Whitewell.
Island records was going since the early 60`s about 1963 coming out with a lot of 7" singles with the reggae riddim and blues cross overs,
They relly saw a chance when reggae started using the bass as the riddim in 1974 that reggae was getting much tougher and the rasta element was on a lot of tunes.
peace edit on spelling
peace

i dont know who i'm referring to. so many people coming on the forum hiding behind alias names. i'm referring to people using a thread for something different than the topic.i'm asking why they cant swap mail addresses and continue there, so everybody else can just get on with it.

Re: WHERE´S THE CHRIS BLACKWELL THREAD ? ?
Pretty sure the same thing happened that occurred a month or so ago, involving the same individual, but anyways...
There where many good points in the blackwell thread, one of which countering the notion that he watered down reggae to bring it to the masses. Someone mentioned Catch a Fire, and I said that overall I like the jamaican version better, but "stir it up" with blackwell's added production is a must for me. That wailing/echoey guitar sets the track in a league of its own. Can't listen to the original jamican version; sounds empty without it!

hey matt, have you seen the 'classic albums' series on VH1 i think. one episode was all about the catch a fire record. blackwell discusses the original tape he got, and how he brought in other musicans for final mix etc. the other musicians are also interviewed there. very interesting piece of music history.
