One side reggae, one side soul/funk. From memory the A side is reggae.

Really thought that this album would be rootsy, I guess that since many members of matumbi had a part in this. but very disappointed when I finally gave it a spin... I wasn't expecting the funk and soul elements on the entire album. aDam

i m the man who has posted on strictly vibes this album,as im a great fan of matumbi s band i try to collect all we can find of them albums singles prod etc...Guardian angel is sylvia Fagan the sister or the wife of Bevin "bagga" fagan , all the album is in funky reggae style to me the only title interesting is "Woman at the well" which is a duet with Bagga & sylvia Fagan.

the mostinteresting tune of Guardian angel is still "China Gate" which is from far deeper than all this album tunes.

If you want to hear good bevin fagan production try the Government - Mama Dragon LP still on Cavalis label

yes collie man , I collect Matumbi stuff too, I love them style, but I was a little bit disapointed with china gate because I always saw "monster tune", "heavy roots" but for me it's justt good roots. I got Mama dragon wich is for a must have lp if you like mmatumbi. I often play it on my turntable. Do you know the 12" by B.Fagan I wish on a star / Blah blah ?
And what do you think of testify I still don't know it

The testify album is crucial too half of the album got incredible tunes really deep music Ethiopian Chatty Chatty Testify Jah Movements are all really nice.
i found years ago very nice 12" of a band called Riot squad which are matumbi in the reality ...There are 4 or 5 discomix who are really nice
