Greetings,

My love for reggae music is the strongest guide for my collection habits. I collect simply because I want to find the best reggae tracks recorded. Original pressings bear a certain quality that can never be replicated. I assume that the producers and engineers would have recorded the music a lot differently if all the modern digital tools of today were available in the 70s. I'm most interested in hearing the music in the closest form that of the producer/engineers/musicians had intended.

In response to showing off, I truly enjoy getting to introduce my bretherens to excellent Roots Reggae music. Most of my friends listen to everything but Reggae as well. I've made a few addicts out of the bunch, and they have introduced me to many albums I had not previously considered. Its a cyclical process that results in exposure to a tremendous amount of amazing music (like this forum can be at times).

For me, there's no better feeling then coming across a song that stirs something in your metaphysical self. That's why I'm always searching for more. I was talking to a friend the other day about the first time we got our hands on the Junior Byles - Beat Down Babylon comp. He suggested, and I agreed, that soon after pressing play, it was almost like the sky had opened above us.. and the rest was history.

Roots,
Jah Chicken
