I have the original Two Sevens Clash album with Joseph Hill´s autograph on the sleeve.
For me it´s a memory of a Jamaican legend.

yeh, to you its a memory ting but i think oras talkin about if record is signed and for sale if dat would give some extra cash.

i think it depends on the record & artist. if i was rich like that i would probly look out for any signed peter tosh album to put it on my studio wall , but that only if i was rich like dem yutes weh born rich.

The problem is proving the signature is genuine. It's an area full of fraud.

I think it has appeal for RECORD COLLECTORS, not necessarily people that buy the music for the music. I would say a signiture on an album holds significance for the person that got the recorded signed (as in south east's situation). But I would not buy (and pay more for) a record with an autograph; it means nothing to me, the music holds much more significance.

it's strange cos I have records signed by my favourite artists like lee perry, lone ranger, alton ellis etc

I was very excited when I met them and when they signed the records. BUT the records are still with the non signed ones and I'll never put them on a wall...

I don't know why but signed records is more a pop or rock thing isn't it?

at oras- i think you are right about the pop/rock connection. more roots fans be happy just to have the record or meet their musical hero, rock fans want it for vanity and a status symbol..
