I bought maybe 30-40 albums from Coxsone's shop here in NY on a couple of occasions a few years ago - at $5.00 each I wasn't too picky but they range from bloody awful to very good indeed. Dub Store Special which is a great collection is a horrible pressing, but that just may be the batch that I got mine from. Thing is I have got used to hearing them that way and don't really mind but it would be sweet to hear a few of them properly!
I'd have to go through them when I have more time (don't know when that will be!) to be more informative...

Re: Studio One re-issues
Hi Dizzle
I was loathe to recommend this as I hadn't heard a reissue, but as I got hold of one last week I now can!!
This is an absolute must-have and possibly the best vocal album I have ever heard!!!!!!!!
Amusingly(?) the reissue possibly sounds better than my original!

Ha! Yes! that is number one on my list - especially after reading the write-up on Downbeat Special. think I'll go order it. Cheers for the tip off! I recently picked up Ready Nattie Dread by Dillinger which is a fine re-issue. No major complaints. An incredible album musically. Got Jucks Inc. also. Rocking Time and John Holt and Friends are also on there way to me. Lovin' the Studio One sound right now.

Don't have that Dillinger album, but did have the pleasure of seeing him back in the day!

Apologies if this has been pointed out before. I was told it had been, but did a search and couldn't find mention of it.Dizzle wrote:I recently picked up Ready Nattie Dread by Dillinger which is a fine re-issue. No major complaints.
Bizarrely, the "Ready Natty Dreadie" re-issue does not
contain the title track! Instead it has been replaced by "Natty Kung Fu" meaning both this track and "Killer Man Jaro'" are on the "Freedom Blues" riddim. The *missing* track, in the meantime, is on the "Creation Rebel" riddim.
