Nah, in my opinion this is not going to work, because allmost every dub record has been ripped during the last 5 years, and can be found online ( in mp3 or lossless format,)Even the odd ones that had a release of 500 copies or something....
People who are interested in this stuff, know where to find it.....

i agree on the 3 mentioned harriott productions (scrub, more scrubbing, go deh wid riddim), all great.

I have black magic dub on CDR, imo a mediocre album.

Yeah I like the two LPs on one CD thing INFORMER, mostly because a lot of the original Jamaican releases only have half an hour or so of music, and a CD can hold about 80 minutes. It's good to have as much of this brilliant music available as possible, to preserve it for posterity. Which sounds quite noble and high minded, so let's not forget that I am also rather cheap

So, a few two-fer-one ideas:

Jah Lloyd 'Dread Lion Dub' and '30 Pieces Of Dub'

As I mentioned elsewhere, I really rate 'Herbs Of Dub' by Jah LLoyd. It's one of my favourite dub albums. These hard to come by LPs both involve Jah Lloyd and, according to a few of the good folk on this board, they are reallllly great albums. Would love to see this as a set!

'Dread Locks In Jamaica' and 'Strictly Rockers In A Dread Land'

Two 70's compilations of Bunny Lee produced DJ cuts by the likes of Dillinger, Tappa Zukie, Jah Stitch and others along with corresponding dub versions mixed by King Tubby! Do I need to say more?

Sylvan Morris 'Cultural Dub' and 'Morris On Dub'

I've never heard these, but I am really keen to! I love the sound Sylvan Morris got at Studio One, and I've read good things about his mixes, but getting hold of any of the dub LPs he was involved in seems to beyond me. Both of these mid to late 70's Harry J obscurities on one CD would be a start.

Never heard 'Aquarius', but definitely with you on Prince Busters 'The Message Dubwise' - superb album!

Any other two LP on one CD ideas?

Aquarius dub is quite boring in my opinion...(it's not really a dub record imo...more instrumental... )

It contains some versions from 12"es ( like the version from Don Carlos- late night blues and a version from a Junior Reid tune forgot the name...) but it's quite a good set...

Well, any record with the 'Late Night Blues' rhythm has got to be worth a listen - one of my favourites! Awesome tune! The dub version 'Drumillie Rock' from '100% Of Dub' is one of the first tracks I play to anyone who wants to hear some dub.

Such a spooked, relentless groove - makes me wanna go listen to it!

also watch out for I Roys "Hotter Yatta" lp on that label including some Glen Brown tracks ........

I don't know why Pressure Sounds doesn't reiussue all of the Singers & Players albums, really, especially with Adrian Maxwell Sherwood involved...

Spoke to Pete at Pressure Sounds and he said it's unlikely that any of the On U Sound albums will be reissued by them.

Thanks for the update, 6anbatte. It's funny... the day after I wrote that post I was able to pick up two of the first four Singers & Players albums for amazingly cheap prices -- so I don't feel so bad about the situation now!

On another note, I heard about Pete moving to Japan; think it was mentioned on Steve Barker's On The Wire program. Anyone know if the move is for some sort of musical motivation (i.e. he plans to set up a label/shop in Japan or something like that)? Would be cool if he expanded the roots scene here...
