In fact "Jungle Lion" by Lee Perry has the same melody as "Love and Happiness" by Al Green.

Soul Fire is something entirely different.

Horace Andy's version of **["Where Do The Children Play"](http://www.roots-archives.com/release/1 ... light=2074)** gets the thumbs up from me! (tu)

Two great covers:

Tamlins - Baltimore. If you're only going to listen to one Sly and Robbie backed cover of a Randy Newman song, make it this one :-)

Skatalites - theme from Exodus. Exodus is one of the great film scores, and the Skatalites version is a scorcher.

Junior Byles - Fever (Peggy Lee)

Enos Mc Leod - World in his Hands (Laurie London - He's got the whole world in his hands)

Both these tunes are 50's standards...

wait a minute - this is exactly the post I was going to make.

Ah, too much to get to grips with now, how about

Labba, Labba Reggae (the Lonely Goat) TMcCook + SSonics
saves you ever having to hear Julie Andrews singing

My Cherie Amour HJ Allstars (cover of Stevie W) monster cheese but for me the Allstars beats Stevie, even with a blindfold on.

David Isaacs Place in the Sun. I heard Stevie Wonder's version in the supermarket last week and I wanted to run home and hear the song properly. Damn, Stevie you're not singing it right. Yeah well I hear all of this stuff before I heard the soul...trying to rectify that but it is a hard task - the JA stuff is just transcendent...

Hip Hug (Hip Hug Her) Jackie Mittoo (case in point) and all of his covers of the meters stax volt stuff have a heap more soul...just my opinion of course.

What about the Owen Gray Studio 1 version of Stevie's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" - weird, semi-computerised backing, terrible song but something vaguely enjoyable about Owen's cut (except my copy is pretty warped).

Evon Jones "4 & 20 dreadlocks" is "puff the magic dragon"
