Archive Recordings catalogue - opinions and info please!

Post by Pots n Pans »

I have bought a few records issued by Archive Recordings in the last few months, and have been chuffed with the quality of the vinyl, the quality of the sound, and of course, the quality of the tunes!

The stuff that's left to buy is either;
a) by people I've never heard of, or
b) by folk I've heard of, but never heard any music by

so I was wondering what your opinions, knowledge, stories, etc about any of the following

(sorry for my ignorance!)

Allan Kingpin 'Stand Up For A Right' 10"
Mighty Soul Rebels 'Jah Jah Is No Gimmick' 10" (from what I gather, this version is previously unreleased)
Struggle 'Destruction' / Ranking Barnabus 'Show I The Way' 10"

Anthony Johnson 'Zuggi Zeng' 7"
Boom Back 'Ghetto Life' 7"
Camanjia (Bob Skeng) 'Education' 7"
Mike Brooks 'Night Raver' 7"
Rod Taylor 'Ethiopian Kings' 7"
Struggle 'Rainbow Country' 7"

And is there some link between Archive Recordings and the Kingston Connexion label? I think I read that somewhere...

The Alan Kingpin track `Stand Up For A Right` is from the Alan Kingpin Lp `Letters From Jail` on the Ariwa label 1990 and the track is called `Little Jimmy` one of Shaka`s signature tunes.
