Back in the 1970s and early 80s when I had a selection of reggae records I knew plenty of people who loved reggae music. But I only knew about 4 or 5 people who really went out and bought records. The rest of them just borrowed, or taped our stuff.

So I wonder if things are really that different today.
Back then they would mix it in a sound system way and also they would know you would not tape it for other people otherwise you would get no more music from them.
It was ok to play it for other people to hear, but not record it for them.

The reason I use a telephone ringing as a ringtone is because it is so different. It stands out from all the trashy tones that sound like bad music played through the cheapest Tranny Radio ever.

my ringtone is the horns solo from dawn penn's no no no...
and I hear "a message to you" (dandy livingston)when I've got a message!
I think it's funny! ;)

When my moblie phone rings it turns heads cos its the old fashion telephone ringing.
It turns heads cos its not in fashion.
I thought things in fashion turn heads, its like one big corperate advert.

Yep, same here. But some people like stuff that bucks the trends.

I usually just use http://makeownringtone.com to crop the songs because it's a fairly simple online tool and has worked for me in the past.

I use the same type of tone, the 'old phone'. It sounds great on a SE phone as well as what i have now...
