Barry is a very dear friend of mine and he is considered to be one of the great Lover's Rock singers! He loves classic Philly Soul vocal groups like The Stylistics, Delfonics, etc....... He's not afraid to bring these vibes into his Reggae. "Work All Day" is truly a wicked tune, I wholheartedly agree with mashdown. Another one that Barry call's one of his "concsious" tunes is "The Road Is Rough"! Very positive and uplifting lyrics with some excellent percolating pick guitar by the great Hux Brown. I love my Roots Reggae but Barry's voice is pure and soulful. And the bottom line for me is........ I just really love great singers and that, Barry is!

I was expecting that maybe in one of his records he may turn more to the roots than to the lover side.

I guess I'll never fully overstand the mentality of tunnel vision in Reggae listening! I have to respect one's opinion, but if Reggae was all "Roots", well...... variety is the spice of life, this I truly believe! Barry is not a Roots singer. It's funny, I have some Rasta Bredren from JA who just melt when they hear Barry's voice and records. Even the most militant Rasta takes time out for the women, even if it's only behind closed doors! The way I see it, Jah made the woman for man, so when singing praises of love to her, you're still Giving Thanks to the almighty! Massive respect to all the posters no matter what is the opinion!
