I Kong - The Way It Is

Post by Reggae Rhythm Update »

Who produced this album?

Also, on the cover of the VP reissue, it says 1978, but Roots Archives shows 1979. So I don't know when the original release date was.

Didn't Lee Perry produce some of (if not all) the tracks on this album?

To me, the sound is more like Marley's sound during that time period.

Could be, but I seem to remember reading in Dave Katz' *People Funny Boy* that I Kong had journeyed to the Black Ark and did some recording there...

OK, so Perry had nothing to do with it. I retract my suggestions! ;)

The original single is from 1972 (incidentally, it isn't the track on the album).

I bought it when it came out and I reckon that was 1979.

Incidentally, the cover of **["A Little Bit More: Joe Gibbs 12" Selection 1978-1983"](http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0018B7RTM)** should read "..**1977**-1983!" so not sure how accurate the dates on some VP covers are. :)
