Is this album worth picking up? What is your opinion about this album??
I have only heard "Peace And Love In The Ghetto" on The "Trojan Rockers Box", is that the same cut/mix??
Thnx!

Re: King In The Arena (Johnny Clarke)
Fine Rockers style LP with Sly and Robbie. Half the tunes are more heavy dread rockers (Peace And Love In The Ghetto,
Jah Jah Knows, King In The Arena, It's the Running of the Time) and other half are slower and point to the direction Clarke would head on future LPs (Holy Children, Ride On Girl, The Greatest Love, Tell Me Why) with a more slowed down sound.
All the tunes are fine but I like the first four I mentioned most. Absolutely worth picking up if you like Clarke. Although, since he has put out so much classic material, it's not the first LP I would recommend of his (it would be more like 5th but still very worthwhile).

Definitely Recommended. And if you like those dread rhythms, there are DJ versions on Tapper Zukie's 'Peace In The Ghetto' album.

Most of if not all Johnny Clarje albums are worth picking up.
He also done some great albums in the early 80`s
Wicked Singer with a great catalogie of albums.
On other note, his music must also be about the most versioned by DJs / Toasters of the late seventies. I cannot think of any artists versioned more often.

No time for such lovely pursuits these days, all the details should be on there, and you have my permission to rob the site blind for pics / tracklistings etc. I don't have all the items myself but a good proportion of them if you want clarification on any particular items I could probably organise that, (if I can find my Total Sounds Lps that is!)
