Lee Scratch Afficionados

Post by Stevie »

Hola !

Was going to buy Lee Scratch Perry Arkology compilation and thought that I should check on here first.

Confession: I like roots and dub and although I have some music produced by LSP I have no LSP material.

So,please, suggestions. Do I buy Arkology 3 cd compilation or can someone suggest 3 seperate CDs I could buy that would wipe the floor with it.

I ask this as in the early 80s I bought poet and the roots and LKJ albums. Then after I stupidly got rid of all my vinyl and decided to replace it by cds I bout Independant Intevension - what a mistake ! Each Forces of Victory track followed by its dub version - boredom city ! what a bad idea!

So
Go for it, help a newb out !

I'd buy the following first:

Apeology

Dub-Triptych

Larks from the Ark, Produced and Directed by...., and Voodism (just to get some compilations of Perry prodused singers)

Stevie you say that you have LSP "produced" material but not LSP material......
Arkology IS his "produced" material, so if you want Lee Perry material look elsewhere...ie ROAST FISH,COLLIE WEED, or SOUNDS FROM THE HOTLINE or DOUBLE SEVEN.
Lick it back Selecta!

The Arkology is an excellent place to start.. I can not suggest any better entry point.

Check out The Upsetter original released by Trojan Records in 1969. VERY nice rocksteady/early reggae stuff here..

Hi Stevie,
not all the Cds that I own are yet commented in my website.
Personally I think that CLOAK & DAGGER, BLACKBOARD JUNGLE DUB, REVOLUTION DUB, SUPER APE and RETURN OF THE SUPER APE are pure classics.

Some comments can be found here:
