Why calls Bunny Wailer himself Bunny Wailer?

Post by bandulu »

i was always wondering why someone would call himself "Bunny Wailer". isn't "bunny" more like a term of endearment for your/a girl? i'm not a native speaker, so i don't get it ^^

Just a guess... "burn" sounds like "bun" in patois, perhaps the name "Bunny" refers to the act of burning (i.e. ganja)?

there a lot of bunnies is reggae, for example bunny lee, bunny rugs, binghy bunny, etc...

search for bunny on this site, and you'll see a long list.

so i guess the name bunny is somewhat common in Jamaica.

there are some Bunnies in Ireland and I'm not talking about rabbits. The Myxomatosis sorted out most of them.

Nickname for such names as Bernard, Benjamin etc.

Why he would be called that is beyond me. I just spent a few minutes poking around the bInternet and all I can come up with is that he acquired his nickname as a youth. That helps...

are there actually rabbits in JA?

I remember asking someone in Jamaica if there were foxes there - there are many references to foxes and chickens - NO foxes in JA. So some of the folkloric lyrics come from the English...

Any English 'Bunnies'?

Well, interestingly Bunny Lee is Edward **O'Sullivan** Lee and Bunny Wailer is Neville **O'Riley** Livingstone so..... :)

Incidentally, I always thought Derrick *"Duckie"* Simpson was much more amusing. ;)

"Duck" I'll buy into, but "duckie"? Are you sure? Don't claim to be an expert on things northern though. ;)

Why is he called "Duckie"? I assume he isn't from t'Leeds. :)

Anyway getting back on topic, what's the story behind the "Bunnies in Ireland" ACEtone?

Arthur "Bunny" Robinson
Edward O'Sullivan Lee - Bunny Lee
Anthony Graham - Crucial Bunny/Bunny Tom Tom
Eric Lamont - Bingy Bunny
Neville Livingstone - Bunny Livingstone/Bunny Wailer
William Clarke - Bunny Rugs
Fitzroy Simpson - Bunny Diamonds
Anthony "Bunny" Dehaney
Noel "Bunny" Brown

Anyone spot a pattern?

oh dear.

But good point - not that I understand it fully.
A famous Irish person (famous to Irish people!!!:)) called Bunny Carr embezzelled a whole heap of mony from a charity that the was the figggerheaddd of.
Bunt got away really lightly.
He had a day time show on Irish TV called going strong where he would sit talking to old people - pretty easy job - but then he screwed up - some time ago - but ACEtone does not forget!
