Post by Pots n Pans »

The Basic Channel people are reissuing the Black World Dub LP by Bullwackies All Stars on September 26th. Vinyl and CD.

Anyone heard this? Any opinions one way or the other?

It's a decent album... not on the level of the first two *African Roots* albums though. Hopefully the CD will have better sound quality than the vinyl rip I heard...

If you click the song titles at the Basic Channel link, you can hear a sound sample of each tune.

I pre-ordered it. I am a big fan of Wackies! Myself, I am just glad to be able to get things I missed the first time around! I'll let you know how it sounds when it arrives!

Ok Wackie's Rock is basically one of the best dub tunes ever (and off African Roots), but tune for tune Black World takes out either one IMO. Joe Auximite's "Trouble Land". dub of Leroy Sibbles This World, Skylarking dub, Positive and Reconstructive dub titled "Recording Connection", "Morning Star". Ain't close, again, in my opinion. Had all three originals for ages and have personally clashed them on many occasions (during all Wackie's sessions).

hi,

yes, reissue is on Hardwax Records (stated on label)

my vinyl copy is a really bad pressing, especially tracks A1 & A2 have a heavy distorting sound going on all the time. I wonder if this is only my copy or if this obvious misspressing appears on all copies ? anybody's gt a vinyl copy ?

thanks
