a monument to the jamaican legend was unveiled in the village of banatski sokolac on saturday night, during a gathering of balkan rock bands.

It's not so strange, considering serbian or balcanian history. Almost every local hero is a little bit controversial-they don't have to be murderers, but most of them are admired just by one ethnicity and hated by another. So if you're looking for symbol of peace and understanding, the 'outsider' like BM is a logical choice, especially for young people.
