Don't Underestimate the Force, the Force is Within You

Post by Return of Jesco »

Is this album really from 1977? I was listening to it the other day and it sounds a lot like the same vintage as say Yellowman's Them a Mad Over Me (around 1982)...

Now that you mention it, I think you're right. It doesn't sound like 1970s dub at all. It's definitely from the early-80s dancehall period.

The two Gregory Isaacs dubs are from 1979, although the dub to Leroy Smart's "Mother Liza" is in fact a Jimmy Radway production from 1973-74. Some tracks were recorded at Channel One in 1977, but probably mixed a year or two later

Thanks Baudolino... One of the things I like about Channel 1 dub albums is getting that mix of old and new- like Agrovators meets the Revolutioners, there's some ancient tracks on that.

[cover=1800,2119]

So any one knows who produced it?

I believe I got the original pressing with Matrix #JJ 049.

#JJ 022 1976
#JJ 060 1982

So it is between 1976 and 1982. 1981 could indeed be the release date.
