The Royals

Post by Rootsman »

Can anyone tell me if The Royals album title "ten Years After" is worth purchasing.

I am only familiar with the track "Free Speech and Movement" but was wondering what the rest of the album was like.

I have their pressure Sounds titles which I thought excellent. Is this title as good ?

Respect

I like really only "free speech and movement" on the album...
They have a great song in the album "pick up the pieces: "blacker black", and "only jah knows" is kool.
"Israel be wise" and "i cried" are goods in "israel be wise" album
"In moving on" album "familiar music" is kool...
This band had deceive me when i had try, i was wanting a more roots band with that name and album years!

i agree the album is not amazing but it is a good one, if you like the style of roy cousin i 'd advice you to get it, good instrumentals and nice choirs.

I have these three Royals works on vinyl.

I like the LP 'Ten Years after' but only as a second choice to the brilliant 'Isreal Be Wise' LP which is classic work from Cousin. 'Moving on' I found a little less to my tastes - not enough reggae in that mix.

the royals is actually one of the most talented but yet one of the most unknown vintage reggae bands ever to surface in the 70's;they have actually 3 albums that are worth buying"ten years after""pick up the pieces"which was released in 1977 prior to the 2 othrs mentioned."pick up the pieces is also worth atry with one of the heart wrenching titles called"promised land"which drives me crazy.their lead vocalist roy cousins also tried his hand succesfully as a producer too.
"israel be wize" is also very good too
hope i have been of little help too.iam newly registered to this forum and i write all the way from senegal west africa.iam more of a 70's vintage reggae fan
kindest regards

I agree, not enough people who like reggae music have considered the works of this group.
