Jolly Brothers - Colour/Oppression

Post by 6anbatte »

Whilst the Jolly Brothers are on my mind are not **["Colour"](http://www.roots-archives.com/release/66/?highlight=791)** and **["Oppression"](http://www.roots-archives.com/release/66/?highlight=790)** the same track (they are listed as the last 2 tracks on "Conscious Man" on this site)?

On my copy of the "Conscious Man" album the last track is "Oppression" and "Colour" is nowhere to be found.

On "Larks From The Ark" the track "Colour" is exactly the same track as "Oppression" from the "Conscious Man" album.

The lyrics, after all, are along the lines of;
"We've been travelling through many **oppression** and all because of the **colour** of our skins...."

Is the track on "Larks.." mis-labled and the lyrics above just a coincidence? Views anyone?

Greetings 6anbatte,
"Oppression" and "Colour" are 2 different tracks. "Colour" appears to be released on the CD version of Conscious Man only. I don't have "Larks.." on hand, but I would presume that the track is mislabeled. On "Colour", the lyrics start:

"The color of our skin.. Some say its an awful thing.. ", etc.

It's a nice track to have, but not an essential piece of the Conscious Man album, IMHO.

Greetings Jah Chicken

Thanks for the info. I had heard that the CD had 10 tracks as opposed to the LPs 9, but wasn't 100% sure. I can now sleep easy! ;)

I have a question about the MEGATON DUB series.
My CD of M.D. Vol.1 does not have SIMON THE SORCERER,
are there discs out there with this track?

Also my CD of M.D. Vol. 2 has the vocal version of GROOVY SITUATION
Lick it back Selecta!

Good question as I must have the same CDs as you. Also "Groovy Situation" and "Groovy Dub" are mislabled on the cover. Track 4 is the former and Track 5 is the latter not, as stated on the cover, the other way round. Brilliant dub cut, by the way. :)

Selecta Bing,
I have a rip of the CD with "Simon The Sorcerer" included. This track is a nice dub of "Natty Pass Thru" off of Prince Jazzbo's "Ital Corner" (originally titled as the mentioned Jazzbo track). It's too bad that it seems to not be included on most versions of the Megaton Dub I album. However.. I would still rank "Rockstone Dub" as the best dub over the "Natty Pass Thru" riddim.
