crucial acoustic reggae

Post by benjamin »

I was listening to the bob marley yvette bedroom's tapes yesterday, particularly the wonderful "God of all ages" and I thought it would be good to have a thread about the most crucial acoustic reggae from the 70'.
Other great tunes :
- Joe Higgs "there's a reward"
- B. Spear " Jah no dead"
- Abyssinians "Satta" in the roots rock reggae documentary
- McAnuff "sun is setting in the sea"
I'm sure there are loads of others but I just can't remind them now.
Now give yours
Bless

there was also this unknown Hugh Mundell track (we got a link on youtube here in the RA) called 'Clean up your heart' I think, very beautiful.

There was an all-acoustic Mighty Diamonds album recently: 'Inna De Yard' on Makasound. Very good, I think.

[Edit: Sorry, didn't see the "from the '70s" bit!]

right, the topic was concerning the seventies cause this inna de yard collection is really nice but it's famous and easy to get and it sounds different from the 70' releases.
I was thinking about another nice one:

bob marley and the sons of jah - acoustic sessions (actually most of the songs are sung by the sons of jah)

there was an all-acoustic Peter Tosh compilation that came out around 2001. it had vocal tracks between each song kind of like Marley's Talkin' Blues. all of the songs are great -- just Peter Tosh and his guitar. i enjoy this album a lot, but man, i haven't listened to it in a long time.

The opening track on Rockers is wicked; my memory isn't serving me well right now, but i think it's "Satta" as well.
