Lee "Scratch" Perry

Post by cpv »

I was thinking of buying between 5 and 100 CDs of Lee Perry's productions of the 70s and I am a bit lost. I already have Arkology and I was thinking of buying:
Open the gate
Build the ark
Heart of the ark
I am the upsetter
Produced and directed by the upsetter

Are they a good choice? What others should I get?

thank you
Ziggy

A couple of great early comps are "Dry Acid" and "Words of My Mouth" on Trojan. "Voodooism" on Pressure Sounds is excellent as well. Happy hunting.

Of the ones I have heard (and can think of right now) I would recommend:

Voodooism (Pressure Sounds)
Ape-ology (Trojan)
Baffling Smoke Signal (Heartbeat)
Dub-Triptych (Trojan)
Dubstrumentals (Trojan)
The Upsetter Selection: A Lee Perry Jukebox (Trojan)
