I went to see Sly & Robbie last Monday; I was truly blown away. I have seen many acts in my time reggae & other, but this was the real deal. I have never heard anything like it, heavy propulsive rockers. They made some classic tunes sound as if they were recorded yesterday, locking down a groove like a mother****er! They played plenty dubwise, ballistic affair, shine eye gal, stalag the lot & it mash! If you have never seen them live then just go, you will not be disapointed, Sly was even packing up his own drumkit and spoke to us; a true gentleman and legend. Anyone else caught them on this tour?

Re: Sly & Robbie
yeah!! im totally agree with you!
they were in Barcelona one month ago for FREE money!!
Was really awesome, I give thanks because they didnt make propaganda, and in consequence I were in first line, really near to the stage without problems with mass people!!
The guitarrist was missing, and their pianist make all the guitar stuff like pickings, solos.... really incredible! He's very very good, (like all the team trombonist-singer, sax-percussion-backing vocals)......and SLY & ROBBIE were really superb. They can break the riddim and make a progression from reggae to another horizons. They are genius.
One thing that attract my attention is the way they focus the show: was really a SHOW in the full sense of the word, one person who dont like specially reggae wouldnt be bored, cause they make changes of intensity, different singers in different moments. But like a reggae lover you only can fall in love with them.
(sorry for my poor english)

I remember seeing them almost 20 years ago with Dean Fraser, Freddie MacGregor & Maxi Priest. Awesome. Would love to see them again. Does anyone know where I can get details of their current tour?
Blessings.

Re: Sly & Robbie
Try and catch them at a venue with a reputable sound system. I've seen them in large & small venues; personally, I prefer to seem them in the smaller venues where the sound is tight. The multitude of sounds they produce is simply incredible. I've been blessed to see many concerts and they are right near the top of my all-time best concerts list; and, really, depending on when asked, I dare say they are arguably the best I've seen. Therefore, I rank them as a must see if you ever get the chance to do so.

Sly & Robbie are most important in thelate 70's so it's easy to understand you. Robbie has a great groove. Sly's drums is particular for me: his drum's play is very linear, little break but its streght lives there: he's graduated and precise, i'm often surprised by listening to their riddim. But I prefer soul syndicate/aggrovators band...
Sly & Robbie made many things, not only reggae and there i take down, too much pop...
Bless you
