I decided to to buy this one the other week. Its a good album, but it did raise a couple of questions. I was expecting a few dub versions from In the Right Way/Only Jah Can Ease the Pressure by Earl Zero.
I was surprised when I heard the tracks as they were the same songs, with the same rythmns, but with different vocalists, Rod Taylor and Phillip Frazer I think. Is there any reason why the original Earl Zero versions were'nt used. Based on the sound quality of the original I could see why the vocals may have be re-recorded. I know Rod Taylor released a version of In the Right Way, what about any of the other versions, have they been released?

there are several instances of producer Bertram Brown recording a song several times by different artists from his roster. the Earl Zero cuts you are familiar with are not necessarily the originals. it's all a bit confusing, to be honest, but perhaps others would be able to tell you who cut the original to what. i'm 99% sure that Rod Taylor's cut of In the Right Way is the original lick, not Zero's.
regardless, tough dub cd!
