Uglyman /

Post by dr benway »

Although I am not generally a big fan of digital reggae and dancehall, there are a few exceptions - i like a lot of Jammy's early digital work, and I recently picked up an album called "Dance Hall Clash" by Uglyman and Little John, and was pretty intrigued by Uglyman...

I have been looking for a copy of "Ugly Lover" no luck yet though. Does anybody know what happened to him (Ugly lover seems to be his only full length album)? Also, I am in NY - can anyone recommend a decent record store that deals in collectible vinyl, or any sites that specialize in buying / selling / trading?

Cheers!

@ ReggaeFire - actually no, haven't been there. I just checked out their site though, and I'll be making a trip down this weekend. thanks for the heads up!

@ slengteng - I think its a different Uglyman, although Ninjaman did go by Ugly Man at one point early on...

Yeah Uglyman has got some tunes for sure.. I believe Deadly Dragon may have a copy of thta UglyLover LP. Him & Pampidoo brought in that Rocks Tone voice that became a craze there in the 80's... Oh he is not Ninjaman niether is Double Ugly all three different artists...

I have that DVD it's great!!! Africa Love 1986 in NYC. I really like General Jah Mikey on that. He kills it with that tune the 86 style.. Is that an actual tune that he put out in 86 or what riddim is he rideing it's soooo ruff.... I think Deadly Dragon still has copies of that DVD if anyone is interested.. Plus some others that are real nice...
