original dub music

Post by jahganja7 »

greetings, i finished a set of dub tunes a few months ago using Reason and a MIDI keyboard if anyone wants to check them out...it is all live playing and manual beat programming (NO samples at all!)... any feedback would be appreciated as i am working on another set currently

please yourself when you make music - if you don't think it is good or right for some reason, don't expect other people to guide you. Other musicians will be more open to that part - but as I know to my often hilarious chagrin - aiming music at people that know the genre deeply is not a good idea if your ego is fragile.
Mine is just accustomed to a little abuse but I trust my own threshold of musical 'rightness' first.
Make music you love and tell people about it...
I'll check out your s#1t now

back again...the bass is not bass. It is mid range synth bass and is not down there where I think it needs to be for Dub.
I use reason too together with ProTools - get some deep bass going and it would help this stuff a lot. Also I'm a sucker for a nice melody too, but as I said, make the music to please yourself. My comments are purely intended as encouragement. We can never have enough Dub!
