- 2 Tecnics MK2 turntable with some Numark Groovemaster Cartridges
- Ecler NUO 2 mixer
- db S350 HI-FI with a 12" sub
- a denon CD players, but don't use it often
- and a dub siren pluged in a delay/reverb RAC and in a little behringer mixer

The next upgrade will be to change the Hi Fi by a more powerfull one

Ahem ...

Lefthand rack as you look at the photo ;

" Sentinel " Turntable - made this myself , with a Rega arm , re-wired with Incognito cable ( direct piece of cable from the headshell tags to the phono-plugs ) and a Transfiguration Aria mc cartridge . This lot weighs in at 4 st.

Small box under the turntable is a power supply for the turntable , switchable from 33 rpm / Off / 45 rpm .

Next box down is a DIY passive pre-amp , that is NO gain and no tone controls , just inputs from the phono-stage and CD players and an attenuator volume control to the power amps .

Silver box at the bottom of the rack is a Musical Fidelity mm and mc phono stage to step up the miniscule voltages to line level.

The stand is made from 50 mm box section filled with fine grain sand . Weight at 6 st.

Equipment rack :-

Audio Analogue Maestro DAC / CD player , Sony CDP X3000ES CD player , just used as a transport fed into the DAC with a coaxial digital cable .

Valve pre-amp and power supply ( World Audio Design kit ) flanked by two hand-built and designed monoblock power amps. These started life as guitar slave amps before being re-housed in custom built chassis` . Only rated at 150 RMS a side but this is deceiving to the ears !!! They pump (tu).

And no , it didn`t cost me an arm and a leg , just a lot of hard work , fine-tuning and loads of listening to make sure they sound crystal clear and musical .

How do you get your signal into the active Nautilus speakers ? Can these be used in passive mode as well , so you can use your McIntosh power amp ? Also , what pre-amp do you use for the power amp ?

Cart: Denon DL-301
CD Player: Technics SL-P555
Amp: Luxman L-400
Speakers: KLH Model 6

Never owned a Luxman product before, but the bass and drums sound particularly excellent through this amp...

Which Luxman amp does your friend have, Leggo?

I like Luxman (and Technics) stuff because they're local, built in Osaka - just down the road from where I live. But if it's as good as you say it is, I may end up trying a Sony DD at some point - even it is from 'distant' Tokyo!
