Tamoki label

Post by Kinfegabriel »

I was wondering why certain albums from the Tamoki Wambesi label are so difficult to find when others are all over the place. For example, has anyone ever seen a CD copy of "Israel be wise" by the Royals ?

it's true tamoki wambesi only reissues a few part of their former catalogue.
i guess it's related to copyright problems as always.
as for israel be wise, i've never seen a CD reissue by myself, but i think i've heard there has been one , maybe under a different name though

Have you checked the "Dubbing with the Royals" cd, released by Pressure Sounds?

main problem with all release from tamoki wambesi lies in mr. roy cousins deals from the past. beginning with releases on the mojo-label/ballistic in the 70s, also kingdom label end 70s/start 80s and sametime temporarily tamoki wambesi which then becam the main outlet for his and royals productions.
almost everything which has come out on the kingdom label is unavaialable at the moment, which is a shame, just for the brilliance of "Scientist in the kingdom of Dub" . "israel be wise" like "ten years after" was licensed to Mo Claridge and released on the Ballistic label in england. The rights to these recordings nowadays are in the hands of the Sanctuary group who took over Trojan records some years ago and in this deal bought some of the accompanied copyrights. Mr.Cousins got most of his songs back from the Ballistic desaster, but some he didn't, just the same that happened to the late Lincoln Thompson.
