Selector/please let the music play... A track of the abum root in the story of the lion... Armaguedon/where one can seize the effect which generates the choruses/let me tell you DIS (let run the old school conception)(tu)

Hi alpha.omega, Hi all,
Yessssss, Mr. Music is really a great track!
Actually, I tried to find when this record had been recorded... but can't determine whether it's 1980 (as it is said on quite a few Web sites) or 1991 (the year when the CD was put on the market)...
All tracks indeed seem to date from the early-80's, but doesn't the sound more one of the early-90's?
I would be super happy to hear from you all about that.
Cheers, MadC.

Thanks for having confirmed that the release date would be 1980.
It still sounds strange to me, for some reason... I find the sound too digital compared to other Culture recordings of the same period.

Thanks also for your advices about other Culture LP's I should listen to. I am actually a big Culture fan myself since the mid-80's (I've got all Culture albums, excepted the "Rare and Unreleased Vol.1"), so I exactly know what you mean in your advices!
To be honest, the album "Three Sides To My Story" is really not one of my personal favourites. Nevertheless, I was still interested to know when it was recorded.

Thanks Dubs_West for your kindness...

*I changed my settings - actually, I had not realized that the default privacy settings would prevent other people from seeing my e-mail address.
Feel free to send me a private message - I would be very interested of course by the recordings you mentioned, and hopefully I can make you discover as well some great reggae music you may ignore today!*

What's your opinion about the "Three Sides To My Story" album from Culture => do you think it was really recorded in 1980?

Greetings! MadC.

three sides to my story was was released in 1993. so i reckon it was recorded that year or the year before.

sleeve notes off LP chanting on: good things was their first RAS release in 1989, Virgin released another compilation of their frontline material that same year. there was a lull in recording until wings of a dove and the disappointing three sides to my story both issued by shanachie. the latter like trod on for heartbeat were released in 1993 by which time dancehall had gone international.......

according to amazon the album was released 1991. something is wrong somewhere. definitly a 90s release anyway. anyone got a copy on vinyl? interested to know because my copy came in a blank 12 sleeve with a small poster insert. also the vinyl looks like it was a test pressing, has what i can only describe as whitish stretch marks on it. plays perfect though. wings of a dove also on shanachie has same type of sleeve and insert but vinyl is perfect. personally i like the updated versions of the earlier songs, but the version of mr music on the culture in culture album is hard to beat.
