What Song - "War is in the Dance ..."

Post by Rob Hay »

What song is this and by whom:
The chorus goes something like this;
"War is in the Dance, say War is in the Dance, War is in the Dance, say War is in the Dance"

Someone gave me a mix tape 20 years ago and I lost the song list.

Sounds like Frankie Paul - he recorded various versions called "War Is In The Dance" and also "Worries In The Dance".

War is in the dance AND Worries in the dance, 2 titles. Originally recorded on the Pass The Tu-Sheng-Peng album, reissued on the Greensleeves label with the Tidal Wave album, quite easy to find or order from the label catalog.

'Worries in the Dance' made FP famous in the dancehalls back in 1982 when it was a 7" PRE for Channel One and later a single on the Hitbound label.
First release on album was in 1983 on the 'Show-Down Vol.2' for Channel One along with Sugar Minott. He LATER recorded the song new on a different Roots Radics Rhythm for Junjo Lawes (1984) as 'War is in the Dance' (released on the 'Tu-Sheng-Peng-Album').
Channel One also made a compilation on the original rhythm which came out on Empire Records called 'Party Sounds presents Worries in the Dance' with the original version by FP missing on that record.
