Dambala

Post by Bellyman »

Anybody can come up with some more information ?
The little I know is....
british reggae band (London area ?)...
been around from ca. 1979 until 1984...
made two albums 'Rally Rally Round' (isis label)in 1981 and 'Azania' (dada music label) in 1983...
probably the labels mentioned were their own...
had a very subtle or sophisticated sound, very dubby...
Who were they ? Is anybody of this group still involved in reggae ?
Every comment is greatly appreciated.
Greetings.

I never heard anything about them
but once i saw a 12" on ebay "Dambala" & i remembered it cause it was a Jimmy Lindsay Production. so i think it s a UK Band but i really dont know what does it look like.
I think it must be heavy roots..

A friend have send me "Azania" in mp3 yesterday, this album is one of the finest that i have hear, very very subtile, lot of mystic vibes, they got high feeling! The singer got a voice a bit as Fred Locks, but less high, he is very good.
It give me the same vibes that the album "Dance hall style" of Horace Andy, dubbed roots + mystical vibes. Killer.
