Song ID

Post by Ziggy »

Hi,

Bought a 7'' dubplate onesider (or sounds more like a recording on acetate).

Label states:
audiodisc recording blank
Recording Center LE 7-4519.
917 Bathurst st. Toronto ONT

Tune is: www.reggae-wise.eu/Help RA.mp3

Anybody who knows this instrumental tune and the players/band/year and producer?

It is a longsshot but worth to try.

Big cheers Ziggy

The plate its self is US in origin. The music is Canadian.
The address refers to Sid Lovejoys record shop. I KNOW he cut dubs. The players are not 100% confirmed but it is more then likley Colin Zuba, Oswald Creary, Jerry Brown, Ben Bow, Johnny Osbourne, Fitty & Leslie Blackwood. There is the possiblity of many others in the studio from Earth, Roots & Water & the Half Moon Band. Yes the track is not released in any mass production, so keep it close.

Just a follow-up question.... do you have the vocals on the back side of the plate.

one thing to think about, acetates have a very limited playing life, counted in the tens of plays, before they start really degenerating in sound quality. if i were you i would transfer it to cdr on the very next play and thereafter play the cd and keep the plate itself somewhere safe and not play it.

Aha Nice Thanks Rasdragon do you also have the dub/instrumental? Or do you have another onesider.

Yes I digitalize it and keep it safe. It already plays with a light hiss so it was necessary.

Oke nice Rasdragon Thank you for the detailed info. Also the other people it is true acetate need to be cared for. Best not play it at all only record it digitally when you listen to the song for te first time.
