Jezebel, Justin Hinds

Post by benjamin »

Ites,
I'd like to have your comments about this album from Justin Hinds. I found it, but it is quite expansive and I can't listen to it before.. It also contains the album Just in time. So a little advice on both of these albums would be welcome. Thanks

I really enjoy Jack Ruby's prod and I do also love Hinds' early material, but this LP is not really essential. Fine LP but nothing to get crazy about.

By the way it was released by Island in UK, by Mango in US and Wolf and Total Sds in Jam. All this is well known but there is something that need confirmation: the Mango press miss the "Other Land" tune. Don't know if the jam one reproduce the UK or US track list.

Justin Hinds coming from the school of ska and rocksteady this 2 albums make the diference as they are very good roots reggae instead of ska and rocksteady
very good vibes and strong songs very well played.

I just picked up the japanese reissue double album a couple of weeks ago. It's well worth it. Great roots sound. Jezebel is produced by Jack Ruby with the Black Disciples as the backing band. That's the same production team as Burning Spear's Marcus Garvey, which needs no explanation. Just In Time is a bit weaker, but still a great roots album. You should be able to find the reissue used on Amazon, then it won't be as expensive. Buy It!!! Classic roots for sure!!!

haven't heard it since '83 or so but I remember I wasn't really excited because I didn't put it on tape.

it is not a band but an album. The singer is Justin Hinds. As we said it was released by a japanese label, so you can get it. I will personnaly probably try it on amazon.
