Why does one like to own "original press" reggae LP's?

Ridiculous? Never. If I had the choice between a re and an original I will always choose the ori. Prices are down right now, so why not spend 20 for an original instead of 15 for a re-press?

one feature of "original press" possibly not noted here is beyond aesthetics of the artifact: they were pressed with fresh stampers and typically sound better, often much better, than later represses. this is especially true with 7" and often the original press contains a dub of the a side track while the repress has some crapola on the b side.

but there is truly often a major difference in sound quality between an original press and a more recent repress.
