Rare LP s you saw in record bins but never bought...

Post by Vlad. »

Ever think of all these rare LP s you saw in record bins but never bought?....and never saw again until Ebay popped up and prices fetched 500 USD making themclose to impossible to purchase?....

here a few I saw and missed:

> the Mixing Lab 10" entire series at 10 USD a piece back in 97 in Boston!!!!
> Don Carlos Harvest for 10 USD
> Original Marley Zippo LP in mint condition for 40 USD
> Absolutely the Uniques for 50 USD in London 1999
> ...

One good true story of a record I saw in a bin for the second time and ended up purchasing for 10 USD... in 2001 I posted this for auction, my first LP for sale on Ebay: Israel Virbration Same Song in Dub, Top Raking; Selling price: 700 USD!!!!

Hey Leggo

Hard to believe but oh so true; Italian buyer; couldn't believe myself until I got the money...anyway, why lie?... no pride whatsoever in selling a record for high price; I used all the money to buy other records ;)

....anyway, just went on popsike; same titles has sold for 355 USD and 320 USD but in 2005, so way after, perhaps when many had had time to find a copy on ebay and thus drive a price decrease of that title over the years.

Check yourself: http://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch. ... ce&thumbs=

I missed once to buy Rico's 'Ghetto Rockers' for 20 DM (Deutsch-Mark = around 10 EUR now).

I think I have spoken of my "The one that got away" before,
but here comes the tears again.
I was living in Japan, 88~2000, and just started to get interested in Japanese 7"s of any popular artist and thought 1000 Yen was tops I would pay for mint 7s with picture sleeves when I saw a PINK FLOYD for 3000 yen so I put it back in the rack only to discover a week later that it was valued at 500 pounds!
Now it is valued by Record Collector magazine at 12~13 HUNDRED pounds!!
YES 1300 pounds.. boo hoo ;(

what pink floyd japanese 7" is that?

ive got a bunch of that crap (japanese 7" singles of usa/uk pop music i mean) lying in boxes in a back room that i bought for a couple hundred dollars once. a whole lot of japanese 7" singles with pic sleeves, inner plastic sleeves, lyric sheets etc. pink floyd, bruce springsteen, cheap (vomit) trick, beatles, rolling stones, that sort of dreck. wasnt much in there i was really interested in though so it just got stuck out of sight so i didnt have to think of my foolishness in buying that junk.

one love

I haven't seen any super rare albums or singles (that I've passed on) I think. But there have been some that I didn't pick up due to stupidity.

Linval Thompson - Follow My Heart (1980, Burning Sounds) - 50 SEK (~£3.5)

Barrington Levy - Shine Eye Gal (1979, Burning Sounds) - 50 SEK

Michael Prophet - Gunman LP (1981, Greensleeves) - 50 SEK

Leroy Smart - Dread Hot In Africa (1977, Burning Sounds) - 150 SEK (~£11)

Dean Fraser - Revolutionary Sounds (1977, Germain) - 180 SEK (~£13)

Clint Eastwood & Jah Thomas - Love & Happiness (1979, Burning Sounds) - 225 SEK (~£18)

And many many more probably. The only two I really regret not picking up are the Leroy Smart and the Dean Fraser since they are so much rarer than the other albums.
