ras midas - french lyrics

Post by general bundi »

Hi,
I 've just got the lp by ras midas called "rastaman in exile". It's the french press by az label. The last song on b side got a french title !! and it's sung in french too (it's quite hard to regcognize the language even for a french man). Does someone know why he made a song in french ?? Does this song appear on the skej label press ?? (because the title on the french label seems to be written smaller than the others titles)?

I don't know for the skej label (I have the french press too) but what I know is that Ras Midas had some connections with French producers such as José Jourdain (who used to run the Jah Live label and knows runs JoeGibbs Europe) and Fluoman.

The french version of the song "Too Long In The Wind" almost certainly was an idea from either Ras Midas or José Jourdain (or both !), and was made solely for the french market/Disc'AZ release.

As far as I know, there was no 12" issued on the Jah Live label, and only one 7" (in very limited quantities), which was an edited (shortened) version of Ras Michael and the Sons of Negus' "International Year Of The Child", (Jah Live cat. JL 621). The full version of the song (plus the full dub mix) appeared on the "Disarmament" album (Trojan TRLS 203).

Just wait for Wareika. There's a thread in french here but I maybe you can't understand it :( : [here](http://www.reggae-vibes.fr/jah-live-vt1 ... t=jah+live)

There is a Skej pressing in Nudge at present.
And, yes, "Trop Longtemps Dans Le Vent" is on this pressing;
**["Rastaman In Exile"](http://www.strictly-vibes.com/ras-midas ... =ras+midas)**
"Now I know the truth and must reveal it unto the youth."

Greetings everyone,

Since about 3 years I'm the manager of Ras Midas. I'm living in Belgium and yes it was an idea of his (French) manager at the time to record a french version of the song; not only for France but also for French speaking African countries and the french antilles etc...

And here's bignews: the album Rastaman in Exile has just been rereleased in an expanded and remastered version on CD and digital.

The new album contains the original recording of "Let the People Go" in an extended (7:22) version and an extended version of "Natty Dread Surprise" (track which was never released on an album or CD)

You can read an English review of this album here: http://www.reggae.be/en/news?id=13722

One love and regards from Ras Midas
