Worringly a "Related wikiHow" is **["How to Make Bowls out of Vinyl Record"](http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Bowls-out-of-Vinyl-Records)** - "You can easily turn any old, unwanted vinyl into a unique bowl! These crafty creations can be used for any storage purpose and make great gifts!"
Presumably that's important info for when you've wrecked the disc after trying to get rid of a scratch!

I'm sure someone told me once you could make bowls out of old shellac 78s by soaking them in water then moulding them, never tried it though.
