I have the good luck ( sometimes misfortune too!) of meeting 100s of reggae artists, musicians, etc....
Bob Marley is unanimously respected as an artist, singer, songwriter and reggae icon. I do too.
Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Skatalites and very few more are universally recognized by the people who actually create the music we are talking about on this forum!

Yes, playing the old stuff is considered "oldies" in JA. YeT, there is a classic oldies station in Kingston. Now, that's paradise. It's something to ride a cab or bus (hired) in JA with a veteran tuning into the classics and humming along.
