SONNY BRADSHAW:
Fifties big band leader in Jamaica. His band accommodated many of the musically inclined Approved school leavers who continued their musicianship either as solo performers of sessionmen elsewhere later, including Roland Alphonso (tenor sax) and Harold McNair (alto sax).

TINY BRADSHAW:
Immensely important in the shaping of postwar black music. Tiny`s Orchestra featured his booming jump blues vocals and a whole series of jazz and R&B greats. Recorded for King. Died in the late 50`s.

BRENDA AND THE TABULATIONS:
Philadelphia group who burst on the scene in 1967 with "Dry Your Eyes", a Chantels-like wailer. Later more stylised records were small soul and pop hits but it remains to be seen whether Epic records can capture Brenda`s old magic.

JACKIE BRENSTON:
Featured vocalist with Ike Turner`s Kings Of Rhythm. At the start of the 50`s his huge hit "Rocket 88", a blues rocker, became an influential record in the birth of rock and roll.

LLOYD BREVETT:
Superb Jamaican bass-player, presently with a band called Sons Of Nero. Was one of the early sixties `ska` sessionmen who played for almost every recording artist in JA.

JERRY BRINDLE:
Canadian who came to JA in his late twenties and was inspired by the local big band music of those times to form his own band. One of the first acts (with Peggy Carvelle) to take the music abroad. Influenced smaller groups like Rocking Stereos from which the Blues Busters emerged.

1972 saw the escalation of groups featuring sub-teen leads and this one clocked up a million seller with their lilting "Love Jones" on 20th Century.

JOHNNY BRISTOL:
One of Motown`s longest-serving talents, Johhny`s productions and compositions for several artists, especially Gladys Knight proved artistically as well as commercially successfull. Left Motown in `72 to join Columbia.

BABA BROOKS:
On the Jamaican recording scene in the early sixties trumpeter Brooks and his band made some important records, notably "River To The Bank", "Teenage Ska", "Chang Kal Chek", "One Eyed Giant", "Guns Fever", "Independence Ska", "Ball Of Fire" and "King Size". They typified the mood, the excitement of the ska era. It seems probable that his band also recorded under the name Skatalites.
