Have someone listenned to this lp?
I have never seen it anywhere, and I'm curious about it.

Mittoo, Bullwackie... It seems to be promising.
But it was recorded in 89, when it was no more the golden age of wackies.
And the lee perry/bullwackie lp, who was promising too, was not really a good one.

So if you have informations..

It's a nice LP, done in a comtemporary style. Fave track is the lead-off, a soring version of "Let's Build A Family".

Hi Dave, have you heard his easy-listening reggae albums published in Canada in the 70s? (I'm sure you must have them as they aren't available outside Canada). Strings, etc...

Yes, they used to be all over town in cut-out bins in the late 70's and early 80's! Now they sell on e-bay, funny how that works. Jackie used to sell them when he played the hotel circuit, often with Joe Issacs on drums, and Brian Aktinson on bass.....yes, the Studio One band doing covers of the day for touristas.

I find that there is always something worth listening to
on a Jackie record, even when they are laden with syrupy strings. You just have to do a remix in your head and remove the parts you find offensive.

I received my copy of "Wild Jockey" from Jackie, and had him autograph it. He had just returned from Japan, and he also brought a green Bullwackie lighter, and a (too small) Bullwackies T-Shirt, all of which I greatly treasure.

Actually the playing on those albums by the Soul Vendors is top top standard, very tight...but the production is so soft.
I paid a small fortune ( by my standards anyway) for them about 10 years ago. I discovered a different side to his musical genius.

It's different, as it uses technology popular at the time (drum machines etc). Does it hold a candle to "Macka Fat" and "Evening Time"? No, but it's still Jackie on the keys, in a very melodic style. If you like the man, it's worth checking out to see if it's too your taste.

This is the late 80s Wackies sound: using midi technology, new sound patches, sequenzed drum machines, etc. Maybe nowadays it might sound a bit dated...
Mr Mittoo was into keyboard technology big time during the 80s and loved experimenting.
He played some nice synths for Gussie Clarke's production (top producer at the time IMO)

I wouldn't recommend this album for people who only like analogue productions with "real" instruments.
