Sly and Robbie do some heavy work on the Third Power album by Material. Both in a reggae style and funk. Shabba on one track too.

Wierd. I've been obsessed with this song for the last couple of days. I was sick of all the CDs in my car so I switched on the oldies station, and "Mother And Child Reunion" came on. I downloaded it and have been listening to it pretty much non-stop since then. Love that "stuttering guitar style."

...but...Simon's whiny voice...
I was thinking of finding the track just to hear the backing but...I don't think i could handle it!

...but I do listen to a lot of questionable reggae vocalists only for the backing riddims.

And, back to the topic, I don't know how much The Wailers were involved with this, but here's some Country/Western/Reggae fusion:

Idris Muhammad is featured on Dean Frasers excellent Big Up! album. Yeah ... I said excellent and Dean Fraser in the same sentence. Mi cyaan believe it as Michael Smith would have said.

I think Paul McCartney was the co-producer of this:
[cover=6610,4639]

Maybe he even appeared on a couple of tunes??
