Talking about shirts again, strictly commercial Lion of Judah

Post by Bellyman »

Don't be surprised these days, when you are walking through the streets of your city or community (all around Europe but in Germany at least) and you meet some men wearing shirts with a small sticker displaying the Lion of Judah.

Shape of the symbol is like shown here
[cover=13,9][cover=12,8]

Well, the owner of the shirt will not necessarily be a Roots-fanatic and might be more than a bit surprised when you greet him in patois or ask him about the latest news from JA :)

The german manufacturer of leasure wear and clothing, the Lerros Company, has put this smart little symbol upon all the shirts of their latest collection. Strangely, this collection is called "Babylon". The name stems from the latest software the company installed for their business.

Anyway, I like these shirts:D

Just have a look here (german catalogue):

I hope this post is not going against the rules. If so, I stand corrected by my mod-colleagues. I am not involved in the Lerros company or any other sales company.
rougher yet

well...Old Navy's knock off of Ralph Lauren has a lion on it.
My son has a couple of those shirts.
Cheap. OK quality. He likes them.
They look like bowling shirts to me - sort of ugly retro 50s no designers need apply kind of thing.

So I'm sitting here in my recycled capitalist top hat, wearing a T-shirt fashioned from all of the hairs I have shed since boyhood - woven on the loom of hope and futility.

Having read your post I checked my sons shirt and there it was - the conquering Lion of Judah I exclaimed!
Who is Judah? said he.
And I said - well - uh Judah was one of the tribes of Israel or something - you know the Jews - that they are not supposed to be teaching you about in public school because we live in the US but which they keep on sneaking in somehow - much to our consternation as parents.

So you have Neckermann and we have Old Navy.
What next?

Whatever happened to a polo shirt with a pig on it? eh?

My late father (sorely missed) used to have a knock-off Lacoste shirt with a logo with 2 alligators on it doing what comes naturally but I don't think he ever realised, bless him!

Hahaha!

Lacoste released a whole series of green-yellow-red clothes lately (polo shirts, sweatshirts...)
I heard something about Dior (i think) wanting to do something similar
