Post by mr mountain »

[cover=957,1106]
are these vocals recorded recently, or are they original 70's recordings?
thanks

I haven't heard this set but I recall being some discussion about this set at B&F some years ago. I think the general view was that it was new recordings over old rhythms.

Yes, it sounds like this. And it´s a tuff album!

I bought the "my neighbor" 12" with the (blue Vivian Jackson label, white Sleeve with green printing) and was a little bit disappointed. When I first heard it I thought it is a new recording.

The best performances of Trinity on Yabby You riddims are on the B&F Jesus Dread set anyway in my opinion.

JUST got a copy of this, and i'm SO pleased! a REALLY great set!!! if the vocals were not recorded "back in the day", i would be surprised. also, the content is "typical" of the time ("di gun gun fever", "black star liner"), and trinity is in TOP form...

Yes, really like Trini, cause he´s got a lot of coolness and nonchalance in his toasting.

Trinity is well tuff - agree about the Jesus Dread connection. Crucial stuff.
No clue on this colection though...

Definetely new voicings over old riddims - far from Santhytown Determination but a nice little set.

But as Marky Dread said, the subject matter is relevant to the time period of late 70's, with the words he uses and everything? thats why i wondered. his voice seems a bit more corse like he was toasting all day :)
or it is voiced recently. any ways trinity is on it truly a great legend.
wicked set
