Re: RAREST UPSETTER/BLACK ART 12" and 7"
Greetings!
What about "Three Pon One" by Rupie Edwards? I haven't seen an discography info about that one but it's a pretty killer track. Anyone know the info for this one?
Praises,
Jah Chicken

Re: RAREST UPSETTER/BLACK ART 12" and 7"
... Scratch and Rupie had a longtime professional friendship going, maybe not from day one, but at least day two, Edwards' admiration for The Upsetter's talent is renown even.
To make a long story short; in '76 they decided to make two cooperative recordings @ Black Ark, resulting in 'Three Pan One, A Murder' and 'Baby, It's You, plus some initial dub version of which Say A Prayer on the 3pan1 tape stands out most.
Later the same year Scratch revoiced and remixed Rupie on both tapes which delivered the magnificent Rise And Fall (over 3pan1) and Oh Black People (over Baby It's You)
hold tight: Of both also 12" mixes were made ... ayayay !

"Three Pan One"/dub and "Baby Its You"/dub can be found from "Jamaican Serenade" album.

Thanks chungdejah for the info! I wonder what labels/matrix # of those 12"s are. And thanks also Visitor! I can see that this album also includes "Free Up the Ganja" which is presumably another Black Ark recording? I don't like the riddim as much as the one used on both the "Three Pan One" and "Baby Its You" tracks and version, but I wanted to mention it anyway. I'll try to come up with some more questions.

@Chicken:
Only "Three Pon One" and "Baby It's You" are Black Ark recordings.

... Ron is certainly right Jah Chicken, those are the only two tunes Rupie recorded @ The Ark, but your assumption about Free Up De Ganja isnt so bad because Rise And Fall can also come on a Success 7 that is mislabeled as Free Up De Ganja / Ganja Dub, so that could well explain the matter.
Rise And Fall on its own Success label issue btw is dated 24-11-76, a sign of how important Rupie concidered his vocal (and dub !), i take it.
3pan1

Maybe someone could help me with this mystery?
I have a 7" on the high note label from the late 70's. Both sides just say version. However, it sounds like Lee Perry, and the song is called 'Babylon run come' - its scratched on the run out. I did read somewhere that Perry did cut something for Sonia Pottinger in the late 70's. Matrix is dsr 6599 on the vocal and 6600 on the version.
Cheers
Vince
