Very interesting ideas, but I'm not sure I would want to be breathing the air when those candles start dripping hot wax on the vinyl surface!

IS it Cyanide or Arsenic that's in vinyl, Dave?

Don't know, but they are chock full of badness.

I will always remeber watching TV with my uncle when the religious right started bonfires with Beatle records as a means of protesting Lennon's infamous "we are more popular with the kids than Christ is right now..." comment.

"Idiots" chuckled Uncle Norman watching them gather closely around the flaming mound of vinyl. "They are all going to die from poisoning if they breathe that stuff in".

My friend is a chemist and told me one of them was in it (I can't remember which one) and that you could basically do a BT's worth and you're toast.

I was going to say the same thing.
If anyone on this forum is tired of their vinyl I'd be happy to pay for shipping.
If the vinyl in records is PVC then, yes it is pretty bad stuff - there are less poisonous alternatives but I don't know if you can make records from them.
The current thing is toys, books etc. made with any toxins are being phased out.
